Descriere autovehicul
The 964 RS is one of the most iconic cars Porsche has ever released. A car that looks fairly standard, but underneath it is a street version of the Carrera Cup racer. The 964 RS is the first 911 with which this series was held. A wonderful car: light, raw, communicative and brilliant in its simplicity, a total of 2,282 were built.
The Porsche 964 RS was introduced in 1991 at the Geneva Motor Show. It is a completely different car than the 964 Carrera 2 on which the car is based. For example, the car weighed up to 155 kg less by installing magnesium rims, an aluminum trunk lid, thinner side and rear windows and the omission of power steering, cruise control, radio and air conditioning.
Porsche has adjusted the engine management for the RS, officially increasing the power by 13 HP to 260 HP. However, the best engines were selected for the 964 RS, which in practice often even delivered 280 HP. The gears were also shorter and a lighter flywheel was installed for a sharper response.
The chassis of the 964 RS was lowered by 40 millimeters, and stiffer springs, stiffer dampers, adjustable stabilizers and the brakes of the Turbo were also installed. The 964 RS was available as a Touring version and as a Clubsport version. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and has a top speed of 260 km/h.
Step into the 964 RS and you immediately see that a lot has been done to save weight. For example, lightweight Recaro bucket seats have been fitted, there are no rear seats and the doors are opened with simple loops. It's all wonderfully efficient and nothing distracts you from driving.
Our RS was delivered new by The Porsche Center in Hilzingen in December 1991, it is a basic version. Painted in the color Maritime Blue and equipped with the lightweight Recaro sports seats with black side bolsters, combined with a three-colored blue perforated seating area.
All owners are known:
- 23-12-1991: Electronics company (D-7750 Konstanz)- 17-05-1993: Physiotherapist (D-8204 Brannenburg)
- 24-04-1995: Same Physiotherapist, new place of residence (D-83355 Grabenstätt)- 22-08-1996: Private person (D-83109 Grosskarolinenfeld)- 25-05-2018: Private person (D-72336 Balingen)- 12-04-2021: Current owner
The car was repainted in the past for cosmetic reasons, the bodywork is in good condition and completely original. The car has 18 inch 3-piece RH Cup rims. The odometer reading is 49,174 km.
The current owner has a company that specializes in the maintenance and restoration of classic Porsches and Italian cars. Because the RS stood still for a long time with one of the previous owners, he preventively overhauled the engine block. He had the work carried out by his chief mechanic who previously worked for 12 years at the official Porsche dealer where he specialized in classic Porsches (including the Gold Class Technician Certificate and Porsche Classic Technician Certificate).
The engine has been completely disassembled and after splitting the crankcase it was decided to replace the crankshaft and intermediate shaft bearings. During the construction of the engine, ARP studs were mounted and the chain tensioners and guides were preventively replaced. The cylinders and pistons were checked and reinstalled with new piston rings. Various oil pipes have also been replaced.
The cylinder heads were then checked, the necessary new valve guides were installed and both camshafts were replaced. The exhaust system has been completely overhauled. The heat exchangers, catalyst and exhaust silencer have been thoroughly cleaned and reconditioned. A new lambda sensor has been installed and the catalyst has been tested for functionality, the idle control valve has also been replaced.
Finally, the clutch was replaced and the gearbox was inspected, serviced and thoroughly cleaned. In addition, a major maintenance service was carried out, during which the oil, oil filter, air filter and spark plugs were replaced.
The car is equipped with the original on-board documentation, such as the maintenance booklet, the user manual (including the supplement for the RS) and the list of all European Porsche dealers at the time.
The car is located in Czech Republic, close to German borders. It is no problem come with covered trailor with a car to Waidhaus or other places.
